App Store Downloads Reaches 102 Billion in 2013 Till Date
This year the amount of apps purchased from the app store has outnumbered all the previous records and finally has reached to 102 billion till date. 90 % of these apps have been downloaded from App store of Apple and Google Play. The global app revenue has also achieved a new hallmark by generating $26 billion.

Due to the dominating market of free available apps, this year there will be 83 billion free apps in all downloaded apps. IAP has also used effective ways in promoting paid apps as the users who are paying for their favorite apps cannot be ignored. Thus, IAP is really doing a promising and appreciable job by sustaining and encouraging the the app-purchasing methods. There are some new methods evolving to promote more users to buy apps, that is, a user will pay only when he is happy or satidfied with the app.

According to some analysts users are more engaged with apps or games, when they are new and have more excitement, but users having devices for a while are less interested in spending money for apps. iOS and Google are the market leaders in app stores and as iOS 7 is soon to be released, there will be a tremendous rush for the apps compatible with the newer version.

Xbox One Update Now Rolling Out Brings New Media Player App and More

Microsofts Larry Hryb, also known as Major Nelson, on Thursday announced the start of the roll-out of the latest Xbox One system software update, which will bring several new media and social-related features to the game console- many of which wereannounced at Gamescom earlier this month.
Hryb says the latest Xbox One system software update contains features requested by users, and will roll-out globally "over the next few days." The first major update is the new Media Player app that allows users to play files from an attached USB device. DLNA support for home servers is promised to come soon, as well as extended support for dozens of new file formats that will arrive by the end of the year.
The latest Xbox One system update also brings a new Party App, which brings the party leader setting that allows the party leader to change the invite-only setting, and remove others from the party. Other users in the party will also be able to what everyone else is doing, and now have the ability to quickly mute players, join games, or invite players to games.
The next major feature to receive an update is SmartGlass. Users can now post status messages from the Activity Feed and comments, or share items from both their Activity Feed and Game Clips. Hyrb explains a new personalized Activity Feed has been added to users profiles, and that messages now feature a new layout with a full conversation view. Users can now also record game clips directly from the Now Playing bar.
Users in new regions (Australia, Canada (French), Italy, Spain, and Mexico) have been given support for the Kinect voice command Xbox On with the latest Xbox One system software update, which turns the console on when already in connected standby (Instant On) mode.
Brazil, Mexico, Austria, and Ireland users have been given the OneGuide feature with the update, which allows users to configure live TV listings. The ability to use OneGuide and the Universal Remote Control in SmartGlass will also arrive in these markets.
Other new features included in the latest Xbox One system software update are Boot to TV (booting directly to TV when coming out of connected standby), Bandwidth Usage display, and the ability to delete multiple GameDVR clips in the Upload app. Users can now also save their Avatar Gamerpics to their OneDrive accounts.
The last Xbox One system software update began rolling out on August 17, and broughta new Activity Feed, the ability to share game clips both publically and privately, the ability to like game clips, and more.

Apple removes all HealthKit compatible apps from the App Store
A bug in the HealthKit suite is forcing Apple to remove all apps using the framework from the App Store. The HealtKit enabled apps were supposed to launch with iOS 8 today, but this is postponed indefinitely.
An Apple representative has said that the company is working on a solution to the problem, which is likely to come out in the next couple of weeks.
Here’s the statement that Apple spokeswoman Trudy Muller made: “We discovered a bug that prevents us from making HealthKit apps available on iOS 8 today. We’re working quickly to have the bug fixed in a software update and have HealthKit apps available by the end of the month.”
Apple has informed fitness app developers who have integrated HealthKit into their products for the pull. Some of the affected apps include Lark, Strava, WebMD, Carroft Fit.

Its Thursday Weekly App Selection 02 by PhonAsia
Every Thursday, we are going to publish an app selection with a brief review.
First things first, lets begin with some games.
Game Selection
Rymdkapsel (3.59 €)
The developers present the game as minimalist as it get but dont get misguided. It is a strategic kinda, sorta tower defense. You build a ship, you can assign jobs then you can expand your ship by recruiting more workers in order to defend yourself against waves of enemies that become stronger with time. On top of pushing back enemies from your beloved space ship, you have to manage several resources as well.
The game can get frustrating during the first runs since you need to learn a few things that are not well explained but you get quality time and it is worth your money.
Beach Buggy Blitz (Free)
It is a Mario Kart like game. Racing with karts and multiple bonuses to win as unfairly as possible. There is also a multiplayer mode and it is free, you have no excuse to, at least, not try the game.
News
News Republic (Free)
There are lot apps that can do what News Republic (NR) does but not nearly as pleasant as NR especially on Tablets. Basically, it is a RSS hub and you choose the themes on which you want to informations (sports, politics, high tech, etc...). It is so smooth, so beautiful on tablets, you just cannot miss this app.
Utilities
I find often that people underestimate how important are utilities especially during the holidays season. You might be cut off (or partially) of the world or your habits and you need to perform some tasks. Well, here are your utilities apps !
Evernote (Free)

If you do not have this app, download it now. This is the most powerful notes app. It allows syncing between almost every OS (Windows, MacOS, iOS, Android and Windows Phone), so you can check your notes from anywhere while you might have originally taken them on your computer.
Helium (Free)
This is a must have in case you are changing phone or upgrading one through a custom rom or an official one. You can make back ups of your apps and data of your apps as well without root (but easier with root). Titanium Backup can already do that but it is much much more user friendly.
Helium can also save your back up in the cloud (Google Drive or Dropbox) and use them on an another device (new or different like a Tablet) but this feature requires a in-app payment.
The video is the official tutorial made by the dev team.
