Delaware Apple store sells more iPhones than any other in the US

Apples Christiana Mall store in Delaware

Employees at the Newark, Del., Apple store told ABC News that the shop — located in a 39-year-old, single-story mall — sells "more iPhones than anyone." Apple does not break out sales numbers per store, and an Apple spokesperson declined to provide the news channel with any additional information.

Hinting at a competitive streak within Apples retail empire, employees noted that while the companys Fifth Avenue flagship —which they called "the glass box on Manhattans Fifth Avenue" — outpaces the mall store in revenue, it falls behind the smaller outlet in iPhone sales.

The Christiana Mall store, Apples only first-party retail store in Delaware, benefits from a unique geographic positioning. Delaware charges no state sales tax, and the mall is a relatively quick jaunt on Interstate 95 from neighboring tax-charging states like Maryland, Pennsylvania, and New York.

The Christiana Mall store attracts out-of-state shoppers thanks to Delawares nonexistent sales tax

New Yorks sales tax rate of 8.875 percent would raise the price of a base model iPad Air from $499 to $543, for instance. While the savings may not be substantial enough to warrant a single customer driving in their car, it does present a tantalizing opportunity for those making group voyages or for foreign buyers who want to resell Apple devices in countries where they command much higher prices.

While Apple generally limits the number of devices a single customer can purchase, one store staffer told ABC News that some customers have bought hundreds of iPhones at a time for resale. The manager of another store in the mall confirmed that shoppers often arrive at the store in chartered buses that he says feature New York registration.

The store is so popular that Apple reportedly eschews their usual practice of hiring private, Apple-uniformed security guards and instead contracts off-duty officers from the Delaware Highway Patrol. Anywhere from four to ten troopers work the store at a time, with their numbers growing during popular product launches or shopping occasions like Black Friday.

The Christiana Mall store was among Apples first retail stores, opening its doors in 2004. It has since undergone two expansions and occupies approximately 10,000 square feet in its current incarnation, according to Delaware Business Daily.

App Store Downloads Reaches 102 Billion in 2013 Till Date

This year the amount of apps purchased from the app store has outnumbered all the previous records and finally has reached to 102 billion till date. 90 % of these apps have been downloaded from App store of Apple and Google Play. The global app revenue has also achieved a new hallmark by generating $26 billion.

Due to the dominating market of free available apps, this year there will be 83 billion free apps in all downloaded apps. IAP has also used effective ways in promoting paid apps as the users who are paying for their favorite apps cannot be ignored. Thus, IAP is really doing a promising and appreciable job by sustaining and encouraging the the app-purchasing methods. There are some new methods evolving to promote more users to buy apps, that is, a user will pay only when he is happy or satidfied with the app.

According to some analysts users are more engaged with apps or games, when they are new and have more excitement, but users having devices for a while are less interested in spending money for apps. iOS and Google are the market leaders in app stores and as iOS 7 is soon to be released, there will be a tremendous rush for the apps compatible with the newer version.

Nexus 9 goes up for pre order in India on the Play Store

The Nexus 9 has been put up for pre-order on the Play Store in India. India is one of the 22 markets worldwide that will be getting the Nexus 9 on day one.
The Nexus 9 is available in two configurations in India. There is the base 16GB version with Wi-Fi, that is priced at Rs. 28,900, and there is the 32GB LTE model that is priced at Rs. 44,900. The Nexus 9 is only available in the Indigo Black color in India for now.

There is a rather steep price difference between the two models, considering the latter has both, higher storage as well as LTE. Unfortunately, there are no options available for those who might want a 16GB LTE or a 32GB Wi-Fi only model. Not to mention there are no higher capacity models available beyond 32GB. The lack of colors beyond black are also perplexing, although the others could be added later.
Along with the tablet, Google will also be selling the Nexus 9 cover on the Play Store. It is available in Black, Limestone, and Mint Indigo. The cover is priced at Rs. 2,900.
