HTC Offers up to 100GB Extra Google Drive Storage Free for Select Phones

HTC, teaming up with Google to woo new smartphone consumers, has announced that it will be offering up to 25GB additional, or up to 100GB additional free Google Drive space for select HTC smartphones.
The Taiwanese giant on Tuesday announced the news on Twitter and also revealed names of some HTC models included in the offer. The HTC smartphones will be offered the additional cloud storage space for a limited period, which is two years.

Googles support page for Google Drive offer for HTC Android devices lists the new HTC One (M8), HTC Desire 816, HTC Desire 610, and HTC One Max smartphones, which will be receiving up to 100GB additional free Drive storage. In addition to the recently launched high-end smartphones, the page details that up to 25GB additional free Drive storage will be available for select 2013 HTC handsets including HTC One, HTC Butterfly S, HTC One Mini, and HTC Desire 601.
The page further mentions, "When upgrade to HTC Sense 5+ and Sense 6 becomes available on certain 2013 HTC models, +25GB for two years. [..] The offer must be redeemed before January 1, 2016. For most devices, youll have your storage for 2 years, starting on the date you redeem the offer."
Google notes that consumers will be able to redeem one offer one time per device. However, the post notes, "You may redeem one +100GB offer and one +25GB offer on two eligible devices using the same Google account. You may not redeem the offer of the same type on more than one account within a 12 month period."
The support page clearly notes that at the end of the two year period, "All of your files will remain in Drive and you can access, download, or share them whenever you want. You wont be able to add additional files if over quota unless you buy more storage."
Last year, the Taiwanese giant in a similar manner announced free Google Drive storage offering up to 25GB to 50GB free space for select HTC smartphones.
HTC recently launched its most affordable smartphone, the Desire 510 in HTCs Desire line-up to support 4G LTE.

Nexus 9 goes up for pre order in India on the Play Store

The Nexus 9 has been put up for pre-order on the Play Store in India. India is one of the 22 markets worldwide that will be getting the Nexus 9 on day one.
The Nexus 9 is available in two configurations in India. There is the base 16GB version with Wi-Fi, that is priced at Rs. 28,900, and there is the 32GB LTE model that is priced at Rs. 44,900. The Nexus 9 is only available in the Indigo Black color in India for now.

There is a rather steep price difference between the two models, considering the latter has both, higher storage as well as LTE. Unfortunately, there are no options available for those who might want a 16GB LTE or a 32GB Wi-Fi only model. Not to mention there are no higher capacity models available beyond 32GB. The lack of colors beyond black are also perplexing, although the others could be added later.
Along with the tablet, Google will also be selling the Nexus 9 cover on the Play Store. It is available in Black, Limestone, and Mint Indigo. The cover is priced at Rs. 2,900.

Rumours Beaming up for Apples Next iPhone

Rumours have already begun to outspread of what Apple may have planned to encircle for the next iPhone that is expected to launch within the second week of September 2013. Theres always been a tremendous pressure on Apple whenever a product is launched by it and the companys ability to come up with some innovation has made the launch a value with substance for the firm.

As far as the new iPhone is concerned, there are many speculations as well. According to some trusted sources, Apple this time is planning to launch two iPhones, iPhone 5S & iPhone 5C. iPhone 5C will be a cheaper model for consumers with lower budgets and its already nicknamed by many tech bloggers as iphone made of plastic rather than usual glass or aluminium.

According to Apple a cheaper iPhone may help in fighting off the increased competition from other competitors like Samsung, who oftenly launches various low cost phones with cheaper materials to lure its budget conscious buyers.

For iPhone 5S - according to MacRumors a Japanese retailer has posted some pictures portraying iPhone trays with two more colors much like bronze/gold & Gray providing a hint that Apple may come-up with two more colors or the trays could be manufactured by third party vendor.

iPhone 5S - What to Expect?

Meizu MX4 Pro review Sharpened up

Pro in a smartphones name implies bigger and better - so much so that its even been abused to fool the unsuspecting. Meizu did not resort to such trickery though and their MX4 Pro takes things up more than just a notch from the stock version.
An updated chipset and 3GB of RAM, a higher-res front cam, bigger screen and a fingerprint scanner are more than enough for the MX4 Pro to earn its stripes. But Meizu didnt stop there. They have the highest resolution screen on a mobile phone / phablet: 1536 x 2560px is between QHD (LG G3, Oppo Find 7 and the likes) and WQXGA (Samsungs S and Pro tablet series, the Kindle Fire HDX 8.9).
Not least, the Meizu MX4 Pro almost managed to keep the impressive screen-to-body ratio of the stock MX4. The hardware Home button / fingerprint scanner obviously needed more space below the screen and its probably the only reason why the Pro failed to match its siblings 75.5% screen-to-body ratio. At 73.7%, its close enough though.

The octa-core processor marks a change of allegiance from MediaTek back to Exynos and RAM has been bumped to 3GB. The selfie camera is a 5MP unit over the 2MP front-facer of the Meizu MX4. The battery capacity has seen an upgrade as well. Well soon find out whether its enough considering the outrageously pixel-rich screen. Lets get things going with a look at the Meizu MX4 Pros key specs.

Key features

  • 5.5" 1536 x 2560px IPS LCD display of 546ppi
  • Heavily customized Flyme OS 4 on top of Android 4.4.4
  • Octa-core Exynos 5 Octa chipset, quad-core 2GHz Cortex-A15 & quad-core 1.5GHz Cortex-A7, 3GB of RAM
  • 20.7MP Sony sensor camera with two-tone LED flash, 2160p video recording @30fps
  • 5MP front-facing camera with 1080p@30fps video recording
  • 16GB, 32GB or 64GB of built-in storage
  • Cat. 4 LTE (150/50Mbps); Wi-Fi a/b/g/n/ac; Bluetooth 4.0; GPS/GLONASS/Beidou/QZSS; microUSB, USB On-The-Go
  • mTouch Home button with a fingerprint scanner
  • Active noise cancellation via a dedicated mic
  • 3,350mAh battery
  • Allows for screen lock/unlock without ever touching the high-perched power button
  • Slim bezels and great screen-to-body ratio

Main disadvantages

  • Hard to find outside Asia
  • No microSD card slot
  • 64GB option hard to get
Last season, fingerprint scanning was a feature no device with flagship aspirations could afford to omit. Meizu is jumping on the bandwagon as well. On the other hand, QHD screens were not as pervasive, most major players carefully weighing up the pros and cons. LG G3s announcement made a big splash but the real-life battery numbers were discouraging. Still, devices like the Oppo Find 7, Motorola Turbo, Samsung Note 4 and the Nexus 6 followed suit.
Now that even Sony is having a change of mind, if rumors of a QHD Xperia Z4 are to be trusted, QHD screen resolution will be the flagship grade for the next generation. The Samsung Galaxy S6 and the next HTC One are expected to rock QHD displays too.
Meizu is outing its first QHD+ screen in the off-season but the timing could turn out just right. Plus, beating the likes of Sony and HTC is certainly something to be pleased with. Whats more, the Chinese are making that little extra step. 96 pixels of extra vertical resolution may not be much but it means they dont have to share the top spot with anyone. Screen bezels as slim as 2.8mm are cool too.

Even at launch, the Meizu MX4 Pro naturally commands a lower price compared to some of its direct rivals but that shouldnt be the main reason to check it out. Meizus phablet looks impressive on paper and if it can deliver the expected real-life performance, users will be more than pleased. Battery life and benchmarks will certainly be watched closely - but not before weve looked at the build and bundle. Lets get to it.
