HTC Offers up to 100GB Extra Google Drive Storage Free for Select Phones

HTC, teaming up with Google to woo new smartphone consumers, has announced that it will be offering up to 25GB additional, or up to 100GB additional free Google Drive space for select HTC smartphones.
The Taiwanese giant on Tuesday announced the news on Twitter and also revealed names of some HTC models included in the offer. The HTC smartphones will be offered the additional cloud storage space for a limited period, which is two years.

Googles support page for Google Drive offer for HTC Android devices lists the new HTC One (M8), HTC Desire 816, HTC Desire 610, and HTC One Max smartphones, which will be receiving up to 100GB additional free Drive storage. In addition to the recently launched high-end smartphones, the page details that up to 25GB additional free Drive storage will be available for select 2013 HTC handsets including HTC One, HTC Butterfly S, HTC One Mini, and HTC Desire 601.
The page further mentions, "When upgrade to HTC Sense 5+ and Sense 6 becomes available on certain 2013 HTC models, +25GB for two years. [..] The offer must be redeemed before January 1, 2016. For most devices, youll have your storage for 2 years, starting on the date you redeem the offer."
Google notes that consumers will be able to redeem one offer one time per device. However, the post notes, "You may redeem one +100GB offer and one +25GB offer on two eligible devices using the same Google account. You may not redeem the offer of the same type on more than one account within a 12 month period."
The support page clearly notes that at the end of the two year period, "All of your files will remain in Drive and you can access, download, or share them whenever you want. You wont be able to add additional files if over quota unless you buy more storage."
Last year, the Taiwanese giant in a similar manner announced free Google Drive storage offering up to 25GB to 50GB free space for select HTC smartphones.
HTC recently launched its most affordable smartphone, the Desire 510 in HTCs Desire line-up to support 4G LTE.

HTC Desire 620 review

HTC

HTC has released the Desire 620, a mobile midrange happens to Desire 610. This team has a very attractive look and is specially designed for a young and dynamic audience that enjoys being aware of the latest developments in Internet.

The team has a five-inch screen with a resolution of 1,280 x 720 pixels. It comes with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 quad core processor running at 1.2 gigahertz. This one is accompanied by a gigabyte of RAM and Adreno 306 for graphics. With regard to its internal memory, the team has eight gigabytes expandable via microSD up to 128 gigabytes. And you can always count on some form of cloud storage like Dropbox or Google Drive.

Its main camera has eight megapixels and has a five megapixel front. The operating system is Android 4.4 KitKat features the operating system for phones and tablets from Google. This software comes with Sense 6, the interface itself Taiwanese brand. It has 2,100 milliamp batteries, representing a range of about one day. In terms of connectivity, the team has 4G, NFC, WiFi and Bluetooth, among other connections.

The HTC Desire 620 will arrive in January to Germany for 280 euros, although it became official in November in two versions in Taiwan, the home market of the multinational. Next, we analyze in depth the device.

HTC

 Design and Display

The smartphone has a very youthful design. In fact, it is available in four different models that make this team a very original mobile: Santorini White (white with blue edges), Marble White (white with gray border), Tuxedo Gray (Grey matt light gray border) and Saffron Gray (Grey matt orange border) .

The HTC devices typically characterized as being very strong, so they are perfect for users with slippery hands. On the right side of the terminal is the volume button and the on and off. As often happens in the mobile brand, the display occupies almost the entire frame, draining every millimeter to optimize space. At the top is the 3.5 mm mini jack for headphones and insert in the bottom of the microUSB for charging and transferring files is located.

His panel has five inches with a resolution of 1,280 x 720 pixels. This implies that it has a pixel density of 294 ppi. Thanks to her, we can see all the content we want to acceptable quality. This part of the device is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3, a very resistant glass that protects the smartphone against bumps and scratches.

HTC

 Camera and Multimedia

The smartphone features an eight-megapixel main camera with LED flash for night shots out your best. Likewise, incorporating BSI sensor, for those who shake hands when snapshots. It also comes with lens 28 mm f / 2.4, auto focus, face detector, HDR mode, 4x digital zoom, image editor, color effects and white balance.

For its part, the front has five megapixels, which allows you to perform both selfies as video calls to friends and family. Keep in mind that this is a point that stands out as most midrange terminals not exceed three megapixels in its front lens.

Reproducing multimedia formats are: .aac, .amr, .ogg, .m4a, .mid, .mp3, .wav, .wma (Windows Media Audio 9), .3gp, .3g2, .mp4, .wmv (Windows Media Video 9), .avi (MP4 ASP and MP3), ie, the usual. As for the sound, we say that has a pair of front speakers that offer good audio quality.

HTC

 Memory and Power

The team has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 quad core processor running at 1.2 gigahertz. This chip is not one of the best on the market, but it has worked well in other midrange computers, so we are sure to provide a good return to the terminal. To him will be accompanied by an Adreno 306 for graphics and a gigabyte of RAM, an amount somewhat sparse if we run multiple applications simultaneously.

In terms of internal memory, the smartphone will come with eight gigabytes expandable via microSD up to 128 gigabytes. If still we need more space, we can always count on service cloud storage as Google Drive or DropBox.

HTC

 Operating System and Applications

The HTC Desire 620 comes with Android 4.4 KitKat, the operating system for phones and tablets from Google. Thanks to him, we can enjoy all the applications you have your Google Play online store. Among the most popular are Facebook, Twitter or Instagram. The Taiwanese company has also put their two cents in the system with Sense 6, the own branded interface.

This visual layer has a very attractive design, with own widgets among which newsreader HTC BlinkFeed. This service allows you to choose the sources that most interest us to have personalized information on the home screen of the terminal. In addition, profiles may add some social networks to share our stories contacts appear.

HTC

Connectivity and autonomy

In terms of connectivity, we must say that the HTC Desire 620 is well equipped. The smarpthone has 4G, so you can navigate high-speed Internet and NFC for mobile payments. Likewise, comes with WiFi, so you can connect to, Bluetooth 4.0 wireless networking, to synchronize your device with other devices, or GPS, so do not miss out on your road trips.

The smartphone has 2,100 milliamp batteries, even though the Taiwanese company has yet exact figures of their autonomy, we assume that the team will hold a full day on about.

HTC

 Availability and reviews

The HTC Desire 620 will be available in Europe beginning in January for a price to be around 280 euros, or at least that is what it will cost in Germany. We can assure you that this team is a worthy successor of Desire 610 and, undoubtedly, is a much more attractive for users offer. And the smartphone not only gives you connectivity, also stands out for its big screen or have a perfect for a young audience who likes to surf the Internet very attractive design.

The Android titanic battle Galaxy S5 Xperia Z 2 and HTC One comparison – Tweakers

Each spring

find on the market for Android smartphones a kind titanic battle instead. The battle is fought between manufacturers Samsung, Sony and HTC, which then each release a new high-end smartphone. The huge advantage that Samsung when it comes to sales numbers may suggest that the handset from Samsung is also the undisputed winner every year, but this is not so; The devices are very risky rule together.

In addition, the devices are quite similar. The top models of the three manufacturers are about the same size, have similar processors and run all three Android. By popular demand, we set last year at this time, therefore, a shoot-out, a direct comparison between the top three of the moment, which we investigated which areas the phones differ from each other and in which they excel. A comprehensive review of the G3 follows naturally once we get owned.

HTC A53 first information and possible specifications

HTC

Among the new devices are expected to be presented by HTC at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona not only is the One M9, its next flagship. Upleaks filtration Taiwanese reveals that also show a device known as HTC A53. There is not much information, so it is difficult to know whether this new product would exclusively to the Asian market, European, or both.

The truth is that made official, would be a very competent device. Considering the specifications leaked by the guys upleaks, HTC A53 would have a 64bit processor, assume that a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810, accompanied by 2GB of RAM. Meanwhile, equip a camera with 13 megapixel sensor that would position as one of the best on the market today. From upleaks also give other details such as the operating system for which shall be governed or the colors of their cases. Apparently, this unknown model Lollipop would land with Android 5.0, the latest version of Google’s mobile platform. Is also expected to be the same as manage his flagship, the One M9.

HTC

For its part, the HTC A53 is presented in four different colors: gray, purple, silver and gold. It is a pity that we have still images of this mysterious smartphone, but it seems that filter will be a terminal for the professional market, who likes to look stylish chassis devices and quality. While waiting to receive fresh news, right now we have all the senses put on the One M9. In fact, just a few hours ago has been confirmed to be called so. For its new terminal, the company had decided to implement a 5-inch display with full HD resolution and the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor. His big improvement would be in the camera. The Taiwanese would not have been able to resist the fashionable smartphones with 20 megapixel camera and have equipped its flagship with a 20.7. It is expected that the quality of the pictures is so good that will do you shade or the very Galaxy S6, other devices that are expected in the Mobile World Congress.

Regardless of whether HTC presents the HTC A53 in Barcelona or not, it also starts talking about another mobile quite interesting. We say interesting because it would replace the One M8. Yes, what you read, it seems that the substitute would not be the One M9, otherwise an intermediate version dubbed HTC One M8i. Have also been upleaks guys responsible for giving this information, it seems quite reliable. As we reported a while ago, the new terminal would fit within the medium-high range thanks to its 5-inch screen with HD resolution and its Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 eight-core chip. This One M81 also highlights its 13 megapixel rear camera (the same as it would seem that incorporate the HTC A53) and a dual LED flash. The fact that also integrates BoomSoun discuss technology, makes us think that perhaps the end of which I spoke a few days ago and could correspond to first equip Bose audio. We only had a small picture, but enough to see that your speaker system was different from other models. As we continue collecting new data, we must not forget that HTC plans to launch this year at least eight new devices. Of these it appears that three are already somewhat clearer.

HTC Touch HD Tips Tricks

Using the Back Key
You can use the actual back key at the bottom of your phone to go back a web page or two in Opera, instead of bringing up the Opera menu and selecting the back arrow.

Exiting Volume Screen
For quick exit of the volume screen, tap anywhere in the dark grey background surrounding the vertical slider button.

Store 2 Extra SD Micro cards in Blackstone phone
You can place two SD Micro Cards directly on top of SIM card area. Gently place back panel back on the phone.
Youre done. Back Panel will be flush after the panel is back on the phone.
(Do not stack the cards on top of each other! Place them above and below each other on top of the SIM.)

Reduce Errors in Typing
In Input options, disable the number of words to show in T9 for less mistakes when typing and thus faster entry.

Improve Photo Thumbnail Resolution in Photo Tab
Modify or tweak a photo (such as adjusting brightness) using a image editor directly on your HD (eg: Resco Photo Viewer) and save and overwrite the original. This makes the photo thumbnails on your Photo Touchflo 3D tab hi-res instead of low-res.

Change the Order of Photos in Fav Album
Modify or tweak a photo (such as adjusting brightness) using a image editor directly on your HD (eg: Resco Photo Viewer) in the order you want your photos to appear on your Photo Touchflo 3D tab, as they are displayed in order of last modified/created date. The first photo you modify will be the last to show in your Photo Touchflo 3D tab and vice-versa.

Panning Around Zoomed Photos
Touch and hold a zoomed-in photo until you see a white outlined box appear in the corner. You can now remove your finger from the screen and drag and pan the photo to see more of it.

Hi Res Contact Photos
Assign contact photos on your SD card directly to specific contacts for hi-res thumbnails. If you assign contact photos in Outlook and then sync, the contact photos on your phone will be low-res.

Better Contact Scroll Search
When scrolling Contacts, tap the letter AFTER the name you are looking for to make your results list from the top of the screen instead of the bottom of the screen. Eg: If you want to get to the P names such as Paul, tap Q instead.

Hidden Weather Animation Easter Egg
In the Weather Touchflo 3D tab, tap on the black background to the left of the title Weather and then immediately to the right of the title, again in the black background to see a hidden Easter Egg where the weather animations are cycled through. You have to be quick with your 2 taps.

Have Category Folders in Start Menu
Using a file explorer, add 5 new folders to your Start Menu folder. Name them like: Web, Travel, Utilities, System and Media. Copy relevant shortcuts from your Programs folder in your Start Menu folder to each of these new folders.

You will need to use a 3rd party file explorer to unhide system files and rom files to see the pre-installed icons to copy them to your folders. These icons are .lnk shortcuts. Also copy the entire Games folder and Office folder from your Programs folder direct to your Start Menu folder.

Finally uncheck all checked boxes in Menus in Settings page. This will allow all 9 folders to show in your Start menu on your home page, where you can access specific apps much quicker. Remember each time you install or remove a program/game, you have to either copy the new lnk icon to your category folder or delete it.

Use 3rd Party Tweaking Apps
Use 3rd party apps like Advanced Config, HD Tweak and SKTools to tweak and optimise your HD further.

Disable Beam
Disable Beam in Settings to conserve power. (Caution, as this will affect Bluetooth send/receive with other phones)

Haptic/Vibration Feedback on HD
Use 3rd party app Touch Response 0.02.2 to add haptic feedback on your phone to feel small vibration every time you touch the screen in any app. Ideally useful for Keyboard entry.

Protect Screen from Breaking
Always carry the phone in your pocket with the screen facing your body to protect the glass from accidental external jolts/pressure.

Cover Up Blemishes on Casing
You can use a black permanent fine tip marker pen to cover up scrapes on paintwork of housing. Rub firmly back and forth with your fingertip after a few seconds wait after applying pen.

Power Off Reset Action
Turn the phone off and on if you want to reset without taking the cover off – or the latest version of HD Tweak installs a Reset icon which you can tap.

Temporary Stylus Attraction to Casing
Once you have taken your stylus out and you need a spare hand for a quick second, you can temporarily stick it magnetically underneath your HD along the right edge – instead of having to put it back in and then take it out again.

More Contacts per View
Show more contacts per page if you check "show contact names only" in Contact options. You get 18 names per view as opposed to 12 and a half.

Fastest Way to Write New SMS
Quickest way to write a NEW text message is through the Contacts list and NOT through the SMS Touchflo 3D tab. Best to assign a softkey to Contacts so it is instantly accessible from your home page.
Number of taps through Contacts is 3 or 4
1st: Tap Contacts.
2nd: Scroll to a name.
3rd: Tap the name
4th: Tap Send text message
Automatically ready to start typing.
(Can be only 3 taps if your contact is within the first 18 contacts listed so no scrolling is required. This is based on using middle font size and "show contact names only" checked.)
Number of taps through Messaging is 6 or 7
1st: Tap Message tab
2nd: Tap new message icon
3rd Tap To: text
4th: Scroll to a name
5th: Tap the name
6th: Tap the message area to shift the cursor from the To: field to the message field.
Now ready to start typing.
(Sometimes this can be 7 taps if you have more than one number for a contact and it asks you to choose which number to send the text message to. Amazing it does not automatically recognise a mobile number.)

Super Fast Text Entry
Use the standard built in (non HTC) Keyboard for super fast text entry with a stylus. Dont forget the gestures. Stroking upwards from a lowercase key inputs a capital letter. Stroking rightwards from any key to another inserts a space. Stroking leftwards from any key to another deletes a character. Stroking downwards from any key creates a new line. Using the Small keys means you dont have to switch to the numbers keyboard as all numbers appear above the QWERTY line. Even faster entry.

Keyboard Usage
When using the HTC keyboards, pressing and holding a key for a second or two will input the small grey character inside the key.

Contact Entry in SMS
If you start typing part of a name in the To: field and hit enter, you will get a possible contact name to approve by hitting enter again. If there are more names to choose from, the arrows will turn white for you to scroll through the names by using the dpad buttons at the bottom of the keyboard.

Zoom Size and Zoom Location in Photo
When viewing a photo in the Album, you can not only choose where to zoom into but how much to zoom into. If you gesture a clockwise circle in the middle of the photo, then the photo zooms in with the middle of the photo filling the screen. If you gesture a circle near the top right corner, then that specific area zooms in to fill the screen. Also if you gesture a small circle you get maximum zoom. If you gesture a large circle then the photo only zooms in a little. An anti-clockwise circle gesture will zoom out the photo. Vary your circle widths to zoom in at various degrees.

HD Friendly Facebook Website
For a HD screen friendly Facebook website, rather than go to the full website, try the iphone version: http://iphone.facebook.com You may need to double tap to zoom out.

Messaging Gestures to Ease Use
In Messaging you can move from message to message or account to account just by swiping your thumb left or right across the screen. Imagine each message/screen is laid out before you horizontally in a row, left to right with the most recent message on your far left and your oldest message on your far right. By shifting all messages to the right gets you to the beginning of the row and to the newest message. Vice versa for older messages. Visualising this as you swipe lets you know if you are going up or down your email/sms list.

Activate Links Without Zooming-In in Opera
If you are tired of having to double tap a web page to zoom in just to activate a link, try this:
In the Opera URL bar, type: opera:config. Click on Adaptive Zoom. Next change the default number in Minimum Overview Zoom to 70 or higher. Scroll down a bit and hit Save and restart Opera. You can now click on links with your stylus when you are fully zoomed out on a web page.

Using the Casing Buttons in Darkness
To see the four hard buttons in the complete dark, place one hand parallel with the bottom of the phone. The light from the screen reflects back onto the buttons making them clearly visible. Alternatively it is also quite easy to estimate where the buttons are by visually dividing the lower edge of the backlit screen into quarters and pressing below the relevant section.

Increase Quality of Photos
To increase the quality of photos, open the Camera, go to Settings, Advanced, then Image Properties. Increase Contrast to 5, Saturation to 5, and Sharpness to 4. Now you will have better definition and much more realistic colours. Also dont forget to choose Super Fine under Quality in Advanced Settings menu.

Reduce Blurriness in Photos
To focus better, have shutter set just to Touch. After you have touched you have the whole three seconds to steady your hand and take a non-blurry photo.

Charge when Powered Off
Always charge your device switched off if possible. This makes the charging time shorter and helps the battery to "calibrate".

Activate Hidden Photo Modes
You can activate hidden photo modes using the HD Tweak app. Make sure to leave the resolutions for these modes at 1 megapixel though or they may not work properly. For for the more advanced users, use the following reg entries:
To enable Burst mode
Mobile DeviceHKLMSoftwareHTCCameraP6
set "Enable" on "1"
To enable Sports mode:

set "Enable" on "1"

Press VolUp to restore manufacturer defaults, or press other keys to cancel."
Release the VOLUME UP and VOLUME DOWN buttons.
Press the VOLUME UP button to perform the hard reset, or press any other button to cancel the reset.
You can also use Clear Storage to reset your device back to factory default settings.
On the Home screen, slide to the Settings tab and then tap All Settings.
On the System tab, tap Clear Storage.
Enter “1234” and then tap Yes.
Make sure you back up all your data such as Contacts, Appointments, etc or they will be gone forever.

Clean your Camera Lens Often
Remove the back cover and gently clean your camera lens with a soft cloth. You would be amazed to find fingerprints or dust on it.

Install Official HTC Hotfix
Sometimes your screen may stop responding for about 3 to 5 seconds when running an application that needs to use the stylus to click the screen repeatedly within a short time. Apps like SMS, email, solitaire, etc. The Hotfix will enhance the response time. Almost everyone should install the official hotfix from the link below. Please read the instructions carefully in the link as it only works if your rom is LESS than version 1.19.xxx.x.
http://www.htc.com/www/SupportDownload.aspx?p_id=179&cat=0&dl_id=448

Quick System Status Menu Exit
When you tap the status icons on the top bar and want to immediately exit the screen, just tap anywhere in the grey background.

Enable Analogue Clock
If you prefer to see an analogue clock instead of a digital clock on your title bar, tap on the main clock on your home page, then the More tab and then check "Display the clock on the title bar in all programs". Finally, when you see the digital clock on the title bar, tap and hold it and choose Analog.

Resolve Squeaky Back Cover
A temporary solution is to use small Post-It notes paper to stick to the inside of your cover.

Cheap Security Measure for Lost Phone
If you were to lose your phone how could someone know who it belongs to, to return it? What if your battery dies and the finder cannot access your Owner page? What if you have a lock code on your phone that your finder cannot enter to get access to your Owner or Contacts page? A simple solution to all this is to write on a 2"x2" piece of paper the following words or similar: "If you find this phone, please call 07890 xxx xxx to reunite the phone to its rightful owner and claim a cash reward of £XX. Thanks!" Stick this slip to either the battery or the inside of the back cover. You are hoping when someone finds the phone, the first thing they will do is take off the cover and try to put their sim in it and discover the message. Of course you will have enabled sim lock on your phone to prevent them using the phone straight away. Seeing as they cant access or use the phone to their advantage, they may go the easy route and go for your cash reward. If you offer say £40 reward, it is still cheaper than buying a new phone and having all your personal data back – especially if you have no insurance. Lets just hope that there are honest people out there that just might pay attention to the message. You never know so you may as well try it.

Tube/Subway Map for HD
Do you want a train map for your HD? Simple. Go to Google Images and find your underground train map for your country and right click to save it. In Photoshop or any PC image editor, tweak it to make it more sharp and crop it if necessary. Choose Save for web option to optimize file size and speed loading on HD. Unlock the first 6 shortcut slots in the Programs Tab so you can edit them like the other ones
Using a registry editor, go to: HKLM (local machine) – Software – HTC – Manila – Programlauncher. There you will find 24 directories for the 24 shortcut locations. The first 6 (i.e. numbers 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5) have a value of 1 in the "read only" section. Change that to 0. Now you can go to the programs tab and erase those and then add the ones that you want in their place.

Add the Option to Reflow Text in Adobe Reader
To make pdf files easier to read on the HD, you can change a registry setting to activate the "Reflow" option in Adobe Reader.

In the registry go to current_user/software/adobe/adobereaderle.25/Enablereflow and change the value from 0 to 1.

Now, when reading a pdf file, go to Tools – View and select Reflow. Now zoom all you want without having to pan back and forth to read the text.

If you are viewing a pdf file in fullscreen mode, just double tap on the screen to exit that mode. FYI: This still works even if you have activated the Reflow option mentioned in the previous tip.
