Hands on Samsung Galaxy Tab Active and Asus Memo Pad 7 – Nutech

Tablets this year were not central to the techbeurs IFA in Berlin. Sony introduces the Xperia Tablet Z3 Compact, but most other companies focused more on smartphones and smart watches.

Nevertheless knew NU.nl to track on the show floor, for a quick two new tablets first test. Our hands-on with the Xperia Tablet Z3 Compact appeared here earlier.

Samsung Galaxy Tab Active

Earlier this year, the Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 of a tablet, which appeared in formats 7, 8 and 10 inches. The middle class excelled devices nor in specifications or in appearance.

However, the Galaxy Tab Active is a very striking variant of the Tab 4 to 8 inches. It has the exact same specifications, but is inserted in a waterproof and shock-resistant housing.

This is the Active Tab is one of the strangest-looking tablets we’ve ever seen. For an 8-inch tablet, he is huge, and stunning you can not call him.

The back is made of ribbed material with four excellent bumpers, near the corners. The corners themselves have excellent lumps under Samsung could cause a fall of 1.2 meters guaranteed yields no damage. The back can be removed so that the battery can be replaced.

Samsung Galaxy Tab Active

On the front there are three physical buttons, just like on the waterproof Galaxy S5 Active. Again, this is not really beautiful, but functional. Touch control does not work on wet appliances.

Like the Tab 4, the Active Tab screen of 1280 by 800 pixels, quad-core processor at 1.2 GHz and 1.5 GB RAM. The price of the Active Tab is not known, so it is not yet possible to say whether you get value for money.

at the fair

Unfortunately it was not possible to drop or Tab Active immersing in water. I am very curious whether the device is indeed as rough as Samsung claims.

The company is the Galaxy Tab Active on business, and the tablet does not seem too interesting. For the average consumer

Where Sony makes its tablets and smartphones waterproof so you can lie by the pool, on vacation with the Samsung Tab Active clearly not interested in the average holidaymaker. It is still unclear whether the device at all comes to lie in the shops or that he will be sold only. Directly to companies

Asus Memo Pad 7

Asus announced the IFA a new tablet of 7 inches. The Memo Pad 7 (not to be confused with the earlier Memo Pad HD 7) is described by the company spokesman as “the spiritual successor to the Nexus 7″ which was made also by Asus, but this time it seems the company’s designer having left it. device at home

Memo Pad 7 is enveloped in a huge cheap-feeling plastic casing, which apparently must look like a handbag. I do not wish it to be. Many women view it

The back of the tablet is two-tone and is separated by a ridge, causing part of the tablet is a lot thicker than the other part.

<- block! | slideshow end ->

As a whole the tablet be light (269 grams) and fairly thin (8.3 millimeters). To take it so it has a good size.

In terms of specifications, indeed does not the Memo Pad 7 under for the Nexus 7, with a full HD resolution and a 64-bit Intel Moorefield chip 1 8 GHz. The screen is beautiful and at first glance seemed to be the performance of the Intel chip quickly.

The price of 199 euros is also reasonable for a tablet with these specs, but for me, Asus had also the design closer to the Nexus 7 may continue

Asus ZenFone gets good reception in India

Asus has made further inroads into the Indian market, selling 40,000 handsets of its latest ZenFone in the four days since the smartphone went on sale in the country, thanks to the appeal of its high performance/price ratio.

Xiaomi is slated to roll out its Mi 3 model in the market soon and HTC aims to boost its share of the market to 15% in two years.

Peter Chang, regional head of South Asia and managing director for Asus India, said that the company aims to muscle into the top-five for smartphones, notebook PCs and tablet PCs in the Indian market next year.

Asus is pushing its products in India through both physical and virtual channels, at a ratio of 6:4, the latter via a colaboration with Flipkart, Indias largest e-commerce site.

Flipkart statistics put ZenFone sales at 40,000 units in the first four days after its rollout, ranking sixth place on the market in July.

Xiaomi has also set up a firm foothold in India, the world third-largest smartphone market, and the company is ready to kick off sales of the Mi 3 there soon, at an expected retail-price tag of 13,999 rupees (US$233). Xiaomi is also selling its products via Flipkart.

HTC debuted its high-end model the E8 and medium-end model the Desire 616 in India in the first half of July, eliciting a positive reception from Indian consumers, who favor the appearances of the firms products, according to Chang Chia-lin, president for global sales and chief financial officer. The company garnered 4% in the high-end sector of the market in the first quarter by selling mainly models priced over 20,000 rupees (US$331), double the average price tag of 10,000 rupees (US$165) or lower for the low-end sector.

With functional models priced at 10,000 rupees or lower still boasting 70%-80% of Indias mobile-phone market, demand for smartphones is surging, scoring 175% growth last year. The substantial demand has attracted the participation of all major brands worldwide. By comparison, with its penetration rate already hitting 66%, Chinas smartphone market has become increasingly saturated.

For the moment, the capacity of Indias smartphone market is still rather limited, due to low per capita income, but the potential is large, as Indians favor renowned brands. Apple and Samsung now dominate the high-end sector of the local mobile-phone market, which now accounts for 6%-7% of the entire market.

Asus Zenfone 5 LTE Debuts and Price in Taiwan

After selling about 105,000 ZenFones in May and more than 200,000 units last month. Asustek Computer expects to ship more smartphones this month. ZenFone 5 ranked as the bestselling smartphone locally for two consecutive months, the company hopes the wider ZenFone range “will remain the bestseller in July,” following the launch of its first 4G long-term evolution (LTE) handset, Asustek’s corporate vice president Benson Lin said.
The ZenFone 5 LTE has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 1.2GHz quad-core processor and costs NT$6,990 (US$233) for a 16GB model, undercutting models with similar specifications from competitors, such as Sony Corp’s Xperia M2 at NT$9,900, and HTC Corp’s Desire 610 at NT$7,990.

Chief executive officer Jerry Shen said Asustek has targeted China’s Xiaomi Corp as its main competitor in the budget smartphone segment and is confident about its own competitiveness, as Asus smartphones are well received in Southeast Asian countries like Singapore and Malaysia.

Asustek in May told investors that it expected to sell 5 million to 10 million smartphones this year.

Asus tests its first Android TV set top box dubbed Nexus Player

Android TV is coming this fall and manufacturers are preparing their upcoming products to conquer people’s living rooms. Asus is one of them, and leaked benchmarks of its Nexus Player show the company is testing its first Android TV set-top box.
The unannounced set-top box runs Android L and packs a quad-core 1.83GHz Intel x86 CPU and a PowerVR Rogue G6430 GPU complete with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage. The system has undergone tests on 23.7″ and 31.9″ displays, both of 1080p resolution.

While seeing an Intel CPU inside an Android TV set-top box is a bit unexpected, it’s certainly cool to see Intel stepping up its game in the Android world. Google says Qualcomm, Nvidia, MediaTek and Marvell chips will also get their primetime in Android TV products.
Judging by its name, the Asus Nexus Player will likely find its shelf place at the Google Play Store when the time comes. In addition to Asus, Razer is also preparing a streaming Android TV box, while Sony, Philips and TP Vision are preparing their future TVs to come with Android TV out of the box.

ASUS CEO Zenfone 4 will sell the most

ICTnews - The three Zenfone 4, 5 and 6 are considered to be "warriors" of the new ASUS recently launched the Southeast Asian market. ASUS CEO Jerry Shen Zenfone 4 predicted to account for 50% of all machines sold Zenfone 5 and 6 will also contribute the remaining 50%.

Mr. Jerry Shen, CEO of ASUS

ASUS is expected to launch the three new Zenfone. Could you share interesting stories of their own at the start of the project ASUS Zenfone?

Zenfone is a smartphone that we aim towards mass customers. On the phone industry, ASUS is not a "rookie" in the playground, in 10 years of development and 3 years since I assumed the role of CEO of industries, we have created Padfone, hybrid devices great between tablet and phone. Product has been considerable success in the Taiwan market, are classified in premium segment with a high price, even par with high-end products of Apple, Samsung and HTC.

Despite achieving considerable success with the Padfone, we have concerns because the product has not been directed to large numbers of clients due to high prices. Therefore, we strive to create a converged product design exquisite beauty, unsurpassed experience, especially on induction, performance, feature rich camera with professional technology. All of the great advantages is that it converges in a product with very affordable prices. Since last year, I often use the term "premium affordable luxury" (premium products at affordable prices - roughly translated) for the development of our direction. It is difficult to get a detailed interpretation of this concept, what is "high", what is "affordable", but I can understand how they attempt to create an "Apple at moderate prices Does ", navigate to the masses. That is the lodestar, is driven product development Zenfone, is what we strive for.

I myself am using both sample Zenfone 5 and 6 Zenfone for their daily activities such as checking mail, surfing the Web as well as take pictures with Zenfone 5. Particularly with Zenfone 6, I usually carry this model the themselves in the weekend biking trip along the river, using the moment to save the beautiful sunset, the really great photos thanks to a professional quality camera, its interface and beautiful design.

All the features are great and this is what Im interested in: a Zenfone luxury and class but with a very affordable price. This is also a big challenge for us by the balance between performance and cost is always a difficult problem. Even so, I always tell the development team that ASUS products: Please go on, lets keep perfection in each design, for each feature, do not let the price factor do you have to compromise efforts that try to balance possible. We strive to create beauty beyond design expectations, and experiences beyond expectations features together with prices well above expectation, a special product for everyone to experience and enjoy the pleasure pleasure and everyday utility. That is the direction of our development Zenfone.

He predicted how the future, the success of each model in the product line Zenfone? Models to predict what will achieve more success?

For my personal views, 4 inch screen seems a bit small, 5-inch screen and more popular to 6 inches is pretty big. Experience of personal use, Ive used Zenfone 5 in 1 month and 6 Zenfone used within 3 weeks and finally I chose 6 inches because the utility it brings, may be because of my eyesight not very good screen to use more appropriate. Not only have big sharp screen, 6 Zenfone also very slim, weighing only 180g, unlike all other models from 6 inches rivals are weighing 200g.It is a very good advantage of Zenfone 6. Particularly for Zenfone 5, I believe that there will be many who love form 5-inch screen is common. So, I personally predict Zenfone 4 will account for 50% of all machines sold Zenfone 5 and 6 also contributes the remaining 50%.

Today, ASUS has developed both laptops, tablets and smartphones, so by his industry will be the focus of its development in the future?

This is a good question that many people including Intel laid down for me. I will say that, I focused on the market "3 in 1" - a common market encompasses all three sectors smartphones, PCs and tablets. In practice, the boundaries between these products no longer seem clear. You can use your PC for work, for entertainment use tablets and smartphones to carry wherever you go. We focus on the development of three product sectors, with a lot of effort during the last time we were excellent in the top three PC makers worldwide, just behind Apple and Samsung in the tablet market with smartphones and our ambition to become the leader of innovative improvements as did the Padfone and a leader in creating high-end products at affordable prices.

Sir, ASUS plans to develop its own app store with regular updates so that users can enjoy the maximum of this app?

With Zenfone, we introduce a user interface completely separate ZenUI with more than 1,000 new enhancements to help bring exciting mobile experience, convenience than ever before, to help meet the needs of users as the Technology PixelMaster shooting with multiple shooting modes as Selfie, Low Light ... We also have Party Link, Air Link, Remote ... Remote Link Link is the connection method that you can use a smartphone to remote control PC its also PC Link allows you to put your smartphone to PC interface and convenient operation control from the PC screen. Share Link allows you to quickly share files Link Party also helps you to transfer photos to your friends just shooting around. Thats the initial results and make sure in the future we will offer more apps, improvements to enrich and bring the best experience to the user.

Three Asus ZenFone models hit Taiwan stores on Tuesday

TAIPEI, Taiwan -- Asustek (華碩電腦) today will launch a trio of the Intel-powered ZenFone 4-6 in Taipei, although the target market will be China and the direct competitor will be mainland-based rising smartphone star Xiaomi Technology.
According to local reports, high-ranking executives of Chunghwa Telecom (中華電信), Taiwan Mobile (台灣大哥大) and Far EasTone (遠傳) will appear at the product launch for ZenFones, showing support for the personal computer maker.
Pricing for the local market has yet not been revealed.
Unveiled in January at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, Asusteks three new ZenFone models start at just US$99 and come in screen sizes of 4-6 inches to target mainstream buyers.
The Zenfone 4 was announced at US$99 for a 4-inch display and an Intel Atom Z2520 1.2GHz dual-core processor, while the ZenFone 5 will go for US$149 for its 5-inch IPS panel with a resolution of 1280x720, a dual-core processor and an 8-megapixel camera.
The relatively higher-end ZenFone 6 starts at US$199 and sports an advanced 6-inch touch screen and 13-megapixel camera, the company announced.
Despite the affordable cost of its new models, smartphones look likely to remain a drag on Asusteks business this year as the PC vendor struggles to reach its break-even shipment scale of 5 million units amid fierce competition, according to a recent report by CLSA Ltd.
The Hong Kong-based brokerage forecast Asustek will ship 3 million smartphones in 2014 with lingering losses and an operating margin of minus 7 percent. It gave the stock an “outperform” rating and set a price target of NT$324.

Asus Zenfone 5 Review

Asus Zenfone 5

Asus Zenfone 5

Asus has re-entered the smartphone market in India with their new Zenfone series announced at this year’s CES. The new series is available in four screen sizes – 4, 4.5, 5 and 6 inches. Today we’ll be taking a closer look at the Zenfone 5. With a starting price of just Rs 10,000. Battery life isn’t fantastic, but most other elements are for the money. Asus is one of the best options if you want to save that additional cash. Can the Zenfone make a dent in Motorolas current lead?

Our Review

The phone does look premium for its price range but the bezels look a tad bit large for my liking,it being a 5 inch screen. The power buttons and the volume rockers are easy to press. The screen has got gorilla glass 3 protection,so thats a thumbs up Performance: The phone runs on an Intel Atom 1.6 ghz dual core processor. But since it relies on hyper threading,it makes android feel like its a quad core(adding 2 virtual threads). And thats where the performance stands out. Scrolling seems buttery smooth and the Ui itself is refreshing to say the least.I tried games like Asphalt8 and Riptide GP and it handled them with ease. The only con here is the heating up after a short period of usage itself. Overall,a more than good performance from Asus. Camera: The camera part was the one which interested me since Asus claim they use pixelmaster technology to highly improve on the quality of images captured. And true to their claims,Asus does manage to take outdoor shots with fine details and less noise. But indoors,it leaves a lot to be desired frankly. Lot of noise creeps in but something had to give for a phone priced at 10k. Battery: Asus provides us with a non-removable 2110mah battery. Id say dont have high expectations and you wont be dissappointed. Overall: I had a pretty good experience using this phone for the better part of one month. And i have to admit that it doesnt get much better at 10 k. Asus is a worldwide trusted brand and you should buy it if you are stuck at a budget of 10k.
