Cross platform messenger Wire could replace Skype
Janus Friis, co-founder of Skype, said recently that despite the popularity of their applications, it is made for obsolete standards. Therefore Friis put together a team, developed the Wire – cross-platform program for communication, available on iOS, Android and Mac. While some improvements compared with Skype hidden from the user, the new application will be able to offer a simplified management. For example, to call enough to hold the cursor along the window from left to right .
However Wire is unlikely to completely replace the functionality of Skype. It does not yet have a video chat function, although this may be planning to introduce in the future. However, in the Wire can share videos from YouTube, to send audio, text, images and GIF-images.
“Skype was launched more than ten years ago. Since then we have become accustomed to free calls and messages and began to carry the device in their pockets. It is time to create the best possible means of communication – both beautiful and useful. Wire – this is what you need” – said Janus Friis, co-founder of Skype.
In the future, the developers plan to add more new features into your application. Will not only clear sound with the audio codec Opus, and encryption at both ends of the call . Despite the temporarily limited set of functions, Wire looks quite attractive. The app will be available soon in stores Google Play and App Store. PC version will also be released in the near future.
