Apple Releases iOS 8 1 which Enabled Apple Pay SMS Relay Camera Roll and More
Apple today released iOS 8.1 to the public, which is the first major update to iOS 8, the update has come after two beta versions seeded to developers, the first beta was at the end of September.
iOS 8.1 includes quite a few significant features, in addition to improvements and bug fixes. iOS 8.1, build 12B410, is available immediately as an over-the-air download. This update as is well known will activate Apple Pay, Apples new payment service, so the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus owners can use their devices to make payments in both retail stores that support NFC and participating apps.
iOS 8.1 enables Yosemite users to access Continuity features such as SMS relay and Instant Hotspot - that letting Mac users remotely activate the Personal Hotspot capabilities of an iPhone when two devices are near each other -, iCloud Photo Library, and restores the Camera, the list below shows all these changes and fixes, as per the release notes:
Apple Pay support for iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus (U.S. only)You can download the iOS 8.1 update via the "Software Update" tool from Settings > General > Software Update. You can also do that through iTunes, after the connecting your iPhone to your computer, selecting it from iTunes, then click “Check for Update” or “Update” button. Apple has also released Apple TV software 7.0.1.
Photos include new features, improvements, and fixes
-Adds iCloud Photo Library as a beta service
- Adds Camera Roll album in Photos app and My Photo Stream album when iCloud Photo Library is not enabled
- Provides alerts when running low on space before capturing Time Lapse videos
Messages includes new features, improvements and fixes
- Adds the ability for iPhone users to send and receive SMS and MMS text messages on from their iPad and Mac
- Resolves an issue where search would sometimes not display results
- Fixes a bug that caused read messages not to be marked as read
- Fixes issues with group messaging
Resolves issues with Wi-Fi performance that could occur when connected to some base stations
Fixes an issue that could prevent connections to Bluetooth hands-free devices
Fixes bugs that could cause screen rotation to stop working
Fixes an issue in Safari where videos would sometimes not play
Adds an option to select between 2G, 3G, or LTE networks for cellular data

Adds an option to enable Dictation in Settings for Keyboards, Separate from SiriEnables HealthKit apps to access data in the background

- Improves stability and audio quality when using MFi Hearing Aids with iPhone 6 and 6 Plus
- Fixes an issue with VoiceOver where tone dialing would get stuck on tone until dialing another number
- Improves reliability when using handwriting, Bluetooth keyboards, and Braille displays with VoiceOver
Fixes an issue that was preventing the use of OS X Caching Server for iOS updates

Apple Releases the Fifth iOS 7 1 Beta to Developers With Changes in Shift and Caps Lock Keys
Apple today released the fifth beta of iOS 7.1 to developers of the iOS Developer Program. after two week for the release of the fourth iOS 7.1.
The update has a build number of 11D5145e , You can download iOS 7.1 beta 5 from the iOS Dev Center, or update over-the-air if you were already on an iOS 7.1 beta.

This seed adds new natural-sounding Siri voices for English (Australia), English (United Kingdom), Japanese, and Chinese (Mandarin – China).
The iOS device initially uses a compact voice for Siri. After you have configured a Wi-Fi network and have the device connected to a power source, iOS will automatically download and install a higher quality version.The update includes Xcode 5.1 Developer Preview 5 and a new version of the Apple TV beta software.
iOS 7.1 beta 5 also includes some changes in the keyboard on the shift and caps lock keys.

Robotic testing finds touchscreen inaccuracies at edge of iPhone display
Using a robotic finger and a specialized suite of test software, Finnish automated testing company OptoFidelity found that Apples latest handsets accurately detect touch inputs only across a small swath of their displays, roughly equating to the location of the on-screen keyboard.

The iPhone 5s and 5c, according to the company, suffer from "extremely bad" touch performance near the edges of the display. This makes it difficult for users to hit outlying keys on the virtual keyboard, like Q, O, and P, the report says.

OptoFidelity compared the iPhones displays to that of Samsungs Galaxy S3 and found that the Korean phone offered significantly more accurate touch detection across its entire touch surface.
"Because the touch accuracy is more even in Galaxy S3 than in iPhone 5s and iPhone 5c, you get a lot less typing errors, and letters which are close to the edge are working better," the report said.

The test methodology considers a difference of less than one millimeter between the robots reported position and the touch screens reported position to be "accurate."
The analysis marks a change from 2010, when testing showed that the iPhone display was by far the most accurate among smartphones then available on the market. That test from three years ago was conducted by drawing lines on the screen, and measuring how straight they would be.
While the latest test suggests the outside of Apples iPhone displays may experience inaccuracies, the iPhone still leads the way when it comes to responsiveness. One study published last month by Agawi found the iPhone 5 display to be twice as fast as competing Android-based handsets.
